Track Unveils The 714C

When TRACK designed the 714C, they were looking for something that would complement two previous releases, the 706A and 716T. The R&D team quickly determined that by modifying a successful core from the past and wrapping it with a brand new cover, they would be able to accomplish the task at hand.

Core: The 714C features a core shape that we successfully used in the past in both the 718A and 716T. The original Robot core gave them the big backending 718A while the Modified Robot core gave them the strong rolling 716T. For the new 714Crelease, the densities were modified once again to create a strong continuous motion at the backend of the lane. This new version is the Modified Robot 2.0.

Cover: The 714C marks the first time TRACKhas solely used one of their new “Continuation” covers. For this new release, they use the Gen XC (Xtra Continuation). Some of the unique additives found in this new cover were recently combined with additives from our Gen XT cover. The combination of the two, created one of the best hybrid covers ever developed which can be found on our recently introduced 811C/T.

Finish: The final step that completes the ball development process is the finish. Having the right finish allows for the perfect combination of core and cover to shine for a wide variety of bowling styles. For the 714C, TRACK went with 800/1000/2000/3000 Abralon® as our finish of choice. This finish process allows for easy length on medium to oily patterns while creating the perfect amount of continuation at the back end of the lane. Look for the 714C January 8th, 2013.

Storm Adds New Lucid

Storm introduces a new high performance ball, the new Storm Lucid™. In order to create that extra backend hook without sacrificing any midlane traction and performance, Storm Products developed a new coverstock. A later break point position and sharper transition shape were the two key points they were shooting for.

Starting at the center of the new Storm Lucid™, the heart of the bowling ball, the Storm technical team incorporated one of Storm’s strongest designs to date, an asymmetrical shape known as the M.A.D.™ core, currently available in the Storm Vivid.

Moving to the shell, the new ERG™ pearl coverstock utilizes similar technology from the NRG™ coverstock but without the Nano additive. Evolution Reactive Genesis, ERG for short, is closer to a pure reactive which creates a later break point, putting more emphasis on the backend. The Lucid is prepped with a 4000 - grit smooth matte finish.

Track Reveals the New 912T, 706A, 503T and 300A

“Our goal was to create a ball that simply out hooked and (out) performed every ball ever made in the history of Track.” The new Track introduction in the 900 series is 912T. With the Legion 2 Turbo core creating easy revs while storing plenty of energy for the back end the 912T features the brand new Gen ET (Extreme Traction) cover. Track included: “The “Traction” this cover creates is out of this world. We accomplished this by taking our Gen XT (Xtra Traction) cover used on the popular 716T and slowly increased the “Traction” additives until we created the best cover to match up with heavy oil patterns.”

Track further explained “In order to create the strong overall hook that was desired when creating the 912T, we decided to go with our newest finishing process. This process uses 1500 Abranet Soft as the last finishing step. Abranet Soft is a new type of sanding material that was developed to minimize clogging while sanding. The foam layer and open structure of Abranet Soft provides more flexibility and allows the material to follow surface contours more effectively.” Available June 21, 2012.

Later this summer, Track will reveal the New 706A. Track explained “The concept for creating the 706A was simple. We wanted a core/cover combination that would provide the aggressive move at the breakpoint the “A” series is known for, with improved continuation through the pins. Our R&D team accomplished this by creating both a brand new core and cover. 706A is the first Track ball to feature the brand new Helmet core. For the 706A, our R&D team developed our new Gen XA (Xtra Angle) cover. The finish process is the final factor that determines our overall ball motion. For the 706A, we started with 800 Abranet then followed it up with 1000 and 2000 Abralon. Once the sanding is done, we apply our Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish." Available July 24, 2012.
In August, Track introduces the 503T. The Packman core offers moderate revs due to the medium Rg values combined with a large overall flare potential. The new GenMT (Moderate Traction) cover is a modified version of the Gen XT (Xtra Traction) cover found on the 716T. By reducing the amount of Traction additives, Trackcreated a cover that will match up the best with medium to oily lane conditions. The finish process is the final factor that determines the overall ball motion. For the 503T, they started with 800 Abranet then followed it up with 1000 and 2000 Abralon. This finish will provide enough traction for oily lanes while allowing the 503T, to still be useful on medium oil patterns as well. Available August 28, 2012

The 300A is designed for when there is too much friction for today's high-performance balls. A combination of the Track Symmetric Core and Gen MA (Moderate Angle) cover provided the building blocks for a ball to complement the 300T and 300C. The 300A comes with standard polished factory finish. The surface is finished with 800 Abranet and then working up with 1000, 2000 and then 4000 Abralon before Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish. Those looking for a little less length can achieve it by sanding with a 2000 Abralon pad and then re-polishing. Available June 21,2012.

Roto Grip Reveals Their Fall Ball Line-Up Additions

The Roto Grip Defiant Edge features the same technological advancement found in the Defiant, the unique elliptical shape of the Paragon core defines predictability of axis migration and allows you to perfectly match up your ball reaction to the condition at hand.

The MicroBite pearl reactive coverstock uses extremely small structured additives to help smooth the transitions while maintaining entry angle at the pocket. This helps you create better pin action while reducing oil sensitivity that can send your ball through the break point.

The new Defiant Edge is the ideal complement to the original Defiant, providing the perfect combination of skid-hook-roll even on medium-heavy oil. Be sure to keep your original Defiant on hand for those heavy oil situations. The new Roto Grip introductions will hit the market August 14, 2012

Roto Grip will introduce the Berserk. With the same consistent, smooth-rolling Caliber™ weight block that the Bandit rode all the way to glory, the Berserk utilizes increased energy transfer to create maximum pin action for both rev-dominant and speed-dominant players alike.

The 65MH Hybrid Reactive Coverstock is the ideal combination of both solid and pearl reactive. This technology gives you the ease of the pearl through the front part of the lane with the smooth reaction of a solid at the breakpoint.

The Berserk is the perfect marriage of its predecessors, the Bandit and Outlaw. This ball is best suited for medium/heavy oil conditions, but the surface can easily be adjusted to work well on a variety of conditions.

New for Fall from Roto Grip, the Shatter. Featuring the same proven, late-rolling Neutron core utilized in the Rising Star and Shooting Star, the Shatter is a model of consistency, producing good length and strong motion down-lane.

The 51ML pearl reactive coverstock was created to go toe-to-toe with medium to lighter oil conditions. This reliable shell allows the ball to easily clear the front part of the lane and provide you with more stored energy down-lane.

The Shatter produces more length and backend on medium to lighter oil conditions than the Rising Star and Shooting Star, creating the perfect combination when paired with either of its predecessors.

The last editions to the Roto Grip ball line is a duo, the Scream & Shout.

The NEW Late Roll 46 core was designed to provide maximum length with stable control down lane. This core will produce a minimal amount of flare and strong hitting power through the pocket.

The NEW 42L pearl (Scream) and 45L solid (Shout) reactive coverstocks were created to combat lighter oil conditions. Both easily clear the front part of the lane and look good doing it.

The NEW Scream & Shout were designed for those lighter oil conditions where you need a ball that provides you with good length and control at the breakpoint.

Storm Adds 4 Balls in May

Storm Products announces four new additions to their product line. The Manic™ and Fringe™ will be the newest additions to the Hot™ line and follow the popular Frantic™, one of the hottest balls on the market today!

Storm will be releasing a new Tropical Heat and Tropical Breeze.

All four balls will be available on May 8, 2012.

The intent of the new Storm Manic and Storm Fringe is to design two more options to enhance and broaden the Hot™ Line, one with an earlier break point than the Frantic and another with a later break point.

For the new Manic, they were looking to enhance the midlane reaction. CATS testing showed an earlier breakpoint of more than two feet so Storm achieved their goal. The 4000-grit finish combined with the solid R2S™ mixture created this enhanced midlane, perfect for those with higher ball speed.

As a counter point, the new Fringe is all about the backend. The straight pearl blend combined with the factory polished 1500 finish depletes energy at a slower rate, allowing for moe entry angle and a wider pocket!

Looking at the power plant, you’ll find the reputable N.O.S. ™ core which embodies true dynamic integrity. This higher volume core is a proven winner around the globe, with bowlers loving the predictable motion across a variety of lane conditions.

So, Storm explains “we gave you the option of choosing your best fit. If your speed dominates your rev rate, you’ll love the Manic. But if you’re the type of player who can’t seem to get too much backend, look for the Fringe to be your ball.”

Storm is cranking up the “HEAT” again with the introduction of the new Tropical Heat™- Black/Purple.

This line of bowling balls raises the standard in performance at a value price. The power behind the Tropical Heat™ is the highly-successful Turbine™ core. This mid-RG and mid-differential core boasts a tighter spin radius for quick revving mid-lane and enhanced entry angle to the pocket.

With a 4000-grit finish, the Black/Purple’s Reactor™ hybrid coverstock is a complement to the Tropical™ Line.  The new Storm Tropical Breeze Black/Cherry’s hybrid veneer blend is highly polished just like the others in this series. It can be sanded to create a stronger reaction.

The Camber™ Core’s inverted light bulb shape powers this new color option, too. It provides ample predictability and control, a must for bowlers with slower speeds or those bowling on drier lane conditions.

Ebonite Adds 2 Cyclones

Ebonite adds 2 new Cyclones to its entry level performance line. Green/Gold/Silver and Red/ Purple/ Yellow.

The Cyclone coverstock is the GB 10.7 (used in the One) and the Cyclone Core still drives the new Cyclones.

Cyclones are designed for “Length with Strong Backend.”

Columbia Adds to The Freeze Line-up

Columbia 300 announces 2 new additions to the Freeze line. The Freeze Solid and Freeze Hybrid

Ebonite Introduces the Pursuit Series

Ebonite introduces a new High Performance Series, the Pursuit with the all new Pursuit and Pursuit S.

The Pursuit is a Mass Bias bowling ball, with a Mass Bias Rating of .008.

The Pursuit core is named the Empire Core. The Pursuit S is the Symmetric version of the Pursuit core, with a Mass Bias Rating of .000 and will be named the Empire S Core design. Ebonite reports: “The Pursuit coverstock, this is the most exciting part of the new Pursuit Series, the new chemistry."

1) Chemically Treated Surface – As each Pursuit ball makes its way off of the finish line, each ball is treated chemically in order to open the pores and achieve optimal performance.

2) Ultra Robust Surfacing – Through the testing phase, we worked on multiple surface options that would allow the Pursuit balls to maintain length, but still offer strong backend continuation. The best possible surface that we tested is 800 Abralon and 1500 Abranet.

3) Hyper Branched MDI Technology – This new cover system offers more performance, longer than any other industry MDI covers currently used. 4) All New Components – The Ebonite Pursuit Product Line is using materials that NO OTHER BOWLING BALLS are currently using!.

Storm's New Premer Line Ball is the Vivid

The intent of the new Storm Vivid™ is to create a motion which expands the current Premier™ line, giving you a clear picture of the lane condition while utilizing Storm’s most technologically-advanced cores and coverstocks.

This new Vivid is projected to fit between the original Virtual Gravity™ Nano solid and pearl versions, combining mid-lane traction and backend hook.

Starting at the center, the heart of the bowling ball, the Storm technical team developed a new asymmetrical shape known at the M.A.D.™ core. "Maximum Accelerating Disc" technology optimizes the shapes of the RG planes to allow you to perfectly dial in your desired reaction.

Moving to the shell, the NRG™ solid reactive coverstock utilizes nanotechnology to create additional contours and surface texture. Proven in the original Virtual Gravity Nano, this coverstock allows bowlers of all skill levels to hook the ball like a pro.

Prepped with a 2000-grit finish, the Vivid can be smoothed with Xtra Shine™ if you find it has just too much teeth.

Storm Adds the Crossroad

When the time to add to the product line came, Storm had a very effective ball (a winner all over the globe) in the Hy-Road.

The number one factor of ball motion is coverstock. So, when Storm was looking to expand upon the Victory Road with the proven components of the Hy-Road, Storm first started with the R2S hybrid reactive shell that seemed to match up on every lane condition imaginable.

Finished to 1500-grit as well, the new Crossroad is sure to skid through even the most hooking heads around. But if your speed is higher and the heads are slick, you can still adjust the surface texture easily as R2S is one of the most versatile coverstocks on the market.

Encasing the Hy-Road shell around the Victory Road’s Inverted Fe³ Technology™ weight block gave Storm the best of both worlds. The advancements made in Fe³ allowed them to utilize a larger mass to increase the dynamics, upping the differential approximately 15% in the 15 pounders. More differential equals more flare, and you can control the amount of flare with the proper layout.

The Modern Marvel from Storm

The new Storm Modern Marvel will provide more midlane traction as it features a textured R2X™ hybrid reactive cover.

Prepped with 4000-grit Abralon® to match the “modern” environment, the Modern Marvel provides an optimum amount of traction throughout the entire lane; just enough glide through the heads without over-skidding and enough backend to verify you are indeed throwing a Storm bowling ball.

The Centripetal™ core’s symmetrical shape provides countless drilling options. So feel free to drop your favorite layout in the Modern Marvel as this shape has quickly

Hammer Adds A Brick

Hammer plans to add a Brick. With an advanced new core design matched with the strongest veneer (GTR Hybrid) ever used on a Hammer ball at this performance level, Hammer touts “the Brick is destined to be a staple in every bowler’s bag.”

The new “Brick Mirror Plane Asymmetric (MPA)” core design is completely asymmetric in shape, a highly unusual feature of the ball. The core is not high mass bias; however the low Radius of Gyration (RG) is not in the geometric center of the ball.

“This core shape was designed for a specific purpose,” explained Ron Hickland, Ball Design Engineering Manager. “The pro shop operator can tweak ball motion by making smaller layout changes when drilling the Brick. Those smaller layout changes will produce bigger performance changes in ball motion for the bowler.”

When you have a core as special as the Brick MPA, you have to make sure you have a coverstock that makes the most of the core’s performance. The Black/Blue/Red “GTR Hybrid” cover does the trick (finished 500/500/1000/2000 Abralon® Sanded). Look for the Hammer Brick just before Christmas on December 20th.

Storm Adds Pearl to High Performance Ball Line

A breakthrough in coverstock technology rarely happens due to the complex nature of chemistry and polymer science. Yet Storm's new release will glide through the heads more easily than the original Virtual Gravity™ Nano yet still handle heavy oil.

In looking for different ways to expand the benefits of nanotechnology, Storm explored several additive options to the base NRG coverstock and found that adding mica to this shell material created a cleaner glide through the heads without sacrificing any of its ability to handle larger amounts of oil.

You’ll see increased entry angle with the new Virtual Gravity Nano Pearl with simultaneous amplified oil traction usually reserved for textured solids. Fragrence of the new Pearl Nano is Orange Chocolate. The new Storm Virtual Gravity Nano Pearl will arrive October 11th.

For the new Storm Frantic, Storm utilized a reliable, proven coverstock R2S™. R2S, the second generation of Reactor™ coverstock material, is clean through the front of the lane and strong off friction. With a pearl and a solid version available in the line, Storm prepared a hybrid version to see if it blended both power and control. Armed with the exact same coverstock as the Hy-Road™, it proved itself quickly during the testing process and moved on to the next phase, surface preparation.

With a 1500-grit polished finish, the new Storm Frantic was impressive during C.A.T.S.® testing as it created three times the entry angle of the 2Furious. Looking under the hood, you’ll find the innovative "N.O.S. Core". When compared with the "Turbine™ Core", Storm designed an increase of flare potential by more than 15% with this higher volume core. Wrap this core with the same coverstock as the Hy-Road. FRAGRANCE: Orange/Lime. Release Date: October 25, 2011

Roto Grip is excited to announce the upcoming release of the Shooting Star. The newest addition to the Shield line will be available at pro shops in October.

The intent for the new Shooting Star is to expand the Shield line, creating a stronger mid-lane roll without sacrificing control. With the success of the original Rising Star, the Shooting Star utilizes the same "Neutron" core as the power source.

The Neutron cores medium RG- medium differential shape is based on the concept started with the original "Photon" core. But with the "Neutron" core, you’ll find an even lower radius of gyration (RG) and higher differential in the heavier weights which hooks up heavy on the backend. To increase the mid-lane roll and bring an earlier break point, Roto looked at a few different options. Testing the "Ultimate Vision" coverstock in a solid version produced the desired motion. Prepped with 2000-grit Abralon®, the Shooting Star created a break point that was two feet earlier and more rounded, or smoother. Controlling the pocket is often the key to higher scores.

Columbia 300 Adds Another New Ball

The new Columbia 300 Encounter is Navy/Purple/Ocean (blue) utilizing the “Elastin 6.0” coverstock formulae surrounding the “Encounter” core (see picture). The core of a #15 ball provides Radius of Gyration (RG) of 2.50 and RG Differential of .052.

The chemical engineers at Columbia 300 have created a new process in which chemical reaction dynamics have been manipulated to exploit the elastic framework found in reactive materials. This breakthrough creates longer polymer chains that create deeper pores and allows for greater built in surface friction that helps absorb oil over a longer period of time. We call this new break through Elastin 6.0. To compliment the new coverstock, the cover preparation of the new Encounter is: 500, 1000, 2000, 2000 Abralon®, then Factory Polish.

Look for the Columbia Encounter September 15th. Check out the teaser video.

CONSUMER REBATE OFFER
Columbia 300 will be offering a $30 rebate coupon on www.columbia300.com that will be available to all consumers. This offer will go live on the release date of 9/15/11.

Brunswick Introduces Three New Balls For Fall

The red/black/silver pearl Brunswick C-(System) ulti-max™ combines the new “CFT ulti-max pearl” coverstock with the new dual flip “I-Block” core that incorporates flip blocks over a centered mass to produce a ball motion that skids effortlessly through the front, saving axis rotation in the mid-lane to grab the backend for strong continuous response to friction that cuts easily through the pins on medium to medium-oily lane conditions. The C-(System) ulti-max is factory finished with 500 and 1000 grit Siaair Micro Pad and Rough Buff compound.

The red/white Lethal Revolver™ features the “Jack” core matched up with Brunswick’s “Propel X solid” coverstock to produce ball motion that clears the front part of the lane and transitions to strong yet predictable hook motion on the backend in medium to heavy oil. The Lethal Revolver is factory finished with 500, 1000, and 2000 grit Siaair Micro Pads.

The navy/silver pearl Brunswick Massive Damage™ features a new "low RG performance” core matched up with “Activator Plus” coverstock resulting in a ball motion that is fast revving in the midlane with a strong continuous backend reaction on medium oil lane conditions. The new ball’s core numbers are a little higher Differential Radius of Gyration (for a bit more flare potential) than the Inferno core in balls like the Anaconda and Python and a little lower Radius of Gyration (for an easier change of direction down lane). The Massive Damage is factory finished with 500 grit Siaair Micro Pad and Rough Buff compound. Expect the next entries August 1st.

900 Global Previews The New Bank Roll

900 Global reports “The new Bank Roll creates an immense footprint in oil thanks to a new blend of resins, and revolutionary “NEAT” finishing process (on the Black/Blue Hybrid “S76 Reactive” coverstock).  Developed for heavy oil, the Bank Roll provides a strong continuous downlane move with the most overall hook in the 900 Global line-up.”

Further “The Bank Roll features the “Self Righting Core” (SRC). The SRC is both homogeneous in nature and also mono-monostatic (a body with a single stable resting position is called monostatic, and the term mono-monostatic has been coined to describe a body which additionally has only one unstable point of balance). The unique core shape contains only one stable point. Unlike all other cores in the industry the SRC core will always move and twist to its stable position regardless of how or where it is placed. It will right it self!” Radius of Gyration (RG) - 2.481.  RG Differential - 0.054. Look for the new ball in July.

New From 900 Global

Also from 900 Global: “The NUTS is the biggest back-ending ball 900 Global has ever produced.”

The Nuts features a new higher Radius of Gyration (RG) core, the Red/Blue “S70” cover and is finished with the “T” pad from the new NEAT finishing process. The T finish on this ball gives the appearance that it’s polished but it has the surface roughness equivalent to 4500 grit. 15 lb core numbers: Radius of Gyration (RG) - 2.551. RG Differential - 0.050. The Nuts will be available in July.

New from 900 Global

Targeting a specific demographic, 900 Global suggests “The Wisdom provides Senior bowlers with a ball that will fit slower ball speeds but yet still have power, and most importantly control down lane.”

900 Global points out “By using a high RG with a medium differential (Symmetric) core, and a milder “S65” pearl cover, the Wisdom will not over react and give Seniors exactly what they desire, a performance ball that fits their game!” A 15 lb ball has RG of 2.540 and RG Differential of 0.041. Likewise 900 Global has created “The Benchmark ball for women.”

The Jewel will provide a ball motion to help slow ball speeds get down the lane and still generate a strong hook to the pocket with its higher differential Symmetric core and “S65” Ruby Red/Pink Pearl Polished pearl cover. 15 lb ball has RG - 2.531, RG Differential - 0.052. The new 900 Global balls will be available in July.
